Simply The Best lives up to its name, all food is freshly made on the premises from scratch, daily. The re-styled ambience matches the high quality homemade food. For all their cabinet food and sandwiches (toasted or fresh), they use ham on the bone – no processed meats; all homemade dressings are their own creations, not out of a jar. The gorgeous dressing on their shrimp cocktails has quickly made a name for itself, as have the thickly-filled toasted sandwiches (3 slices of bread & brimming with your fave fillings like: ham, egg, pineapple, cheese, mushroom, creamed corn, bacon, steak, tomato). And check out the unique old-school style fresh sandwich fillings: - lamb & mint - roast pork & apple sauce - cream cheese, date & walnut - salmon & cucumber Plus big rolled-up crepes filled with juicy goodness, like chicken & mushroom. Also on offer are a range of delicious: - Salads, - Soups (think: chicken noodle, pea & ham, pumpkin…), - and even classic asparagus rolls! Simply the Best cafe will offer fully cooked meals from early 2012: Big breakfasts; burgers, fries, wedges and the like. Come and enjoy a relaxed Ambience, with funky coffee-bean tables, older-style 70′s background music, and its delicious warm colour scheme. Simply The Best is located two shops along from the Rydges hotel on Featherston St, and serves ‘Grinders Coffee’: the much-loved Australian top-seller. I hadn’t been here myself but had read the previous reviews and thought I’d take a punt and take this group who were visiting from Auckland. So glad I did! The food is FANTASTIC – good, honest, home-cooked style and extremely reasonably priced. The Aucklanders raved about it and knowing this place is only down the road from my office, a team brekkie is scheduled soon! Warm friendly staff, great food and value for money smack-bang in the middle of the city? Doesn’t get much better then that! Will definitely be back – often!!!
by Lynn E. 31st May 2012: Mmmm, love this new cafe bar. My toasted sandwich was brimming over with cheese ham and mushrooms and the caramel muffin was so nice I grabbed another to take away.The owners there were so friendly, we had a laugh, felt nice. On ya guys.
by Jo F. 22nd March 2012: I called into Simply the Best with my mother this afternoon, we had the best coffee I have tasted in a long time. Mum had a sandwich which was TOP quality. Tasted home made and was delicious.
I’m organising a team of people to go there for lunch next week, there menu looks excellent and is so affordable.
The owners are so welcoming and friendly A+++ service.

by Kim-marie 9th February 2012: Visited Simply The Best in the weekend & what a beautiful & classy place it is. I’m from the Kapiti Coast & wish there was more places like STB. The food was absolutely beautiful & out of this world, the staff were very helpful & friendly (another thing that is rear these days) this place definitely lives up to its name without a doubt & next time I’m in Wellington it will be the first place on my list to visit. Highly recommend. Well done Simply The Best!!! I will be telling everyone that I know.
