The Riv Restaurant serves great Kiwi pub food every day of the week except Mondays. Turn left as you enter The Riv and thru the doors is one of the best kept secrets in Hamilton East. The Riv Courtyard is an absolute suntrap, and the perfect place to slip away to for a meal with friends and a relaxing drink. The Bistro is open from 4pm, Tuesday to Sunday, offering something that’s rather hard to come by these days. TUESDAY NITES ALMOST EVERYTHING ON THE MENU IS $10. BOOKINGS ADVISED!!! Plus, The Riv is becoming famous as a venue for birthday parties, engagements, reunions and work functions. The Riv Courtyard Bar caters for groups from 30 to 180. We can do food from simple nibbles through to a four course buffet. Check out our party platters. Plus, our bar prices are cheaper than most Hamilton bars in town, so a function at the Riv won’t ‘break the bank’. We have two bars, one for Sports , TAB and pokies and the other for dining and functions.

by Andrew C. 13th May 2013: It was the worst experience of all restaurants. Over cooked steak, rude staff.
I was looking forward to it recommend by family but they said afterwards they had burgers maybe should have stuck with that.
So we have unrecommended it for them going back.
Read other reviews a while ago, there was another bad one here which seems to have gone now so I went on reviews that were left
Not happy customer.

by Kevin O. 10th February 2012: Had a meal with my kids on Wednesday and the Fettuccine was great. The kids meal was well priced and my older kid who wanted a main meal enjoyed it and while it wasn’t a kids price at $16 for a larger burger and chips it was still a cheap nite out.

How right she was. We had steaks, scallops, lamb meals for around $20 each. The meals were substantial and delicious. Staff were excellent, they really make you feel welcome.
