We had a family outing recently, and visited Waiheke for the first time. We decided to brunch at Rickys cafe. This was the best choice. My husband and I ordered the bacon and egg meal with tomatos and hash browns. This meal was out of this world. I have never tasted anything so tasty since I was a little girl and at home we ate fresh grown home produce. You will not be disappointed as not only is there a gernerous amount on the plate, it is absolutely tasty. I was not that hungry, but I ate all of it and was looking to pinch more off my husbands plate, the tomatos had flavour, the bacon ,so tasty, the eggs flavoursome, all must be home grown produce, without a doubt. The savouring iof this food took me back, and had me dreaming and feeling so happy to be dining at this cafe on an Island in Auckland, yet a homely flavour and atmosphere to add to your dining experience, thanks Rickys, I yearning for your food and lovely company. This made my day and the whole experience of visiting Waiheke Island.

Went to Ricky’s Cafe on Saturday 16th Feb. There were 9 of us and after a beautiful fun filled day of the market and the wine tastings, we were looking forward to our late lunch. We found the manager very helpful and attentive and the young gentleman that took our orders was awesome and very efficient. The meals were beautiful to look at and very filling. We could not fault the service and would have no hesitation in returning again as well as recommending it. Definitely worth the 5 star rating. Thank you for an awesome experience.

Went to Ricky’s on Waitangi Day, expecting it to be busy and it was. Upon ordering I was told there would be a 45 minute wait for the food, which should have been expected so I didn’t mind. There was also a surcharge, so I paid $45 for two of the gourmet burgers. I had the chicken burger and have to say it was hands down the best I have had. Quality, delicious ingredients, perfectly cooked chicken, and amazing crispy bacon. My partner had the beef burger which he enjoyed but once he saw mine he regretted not getting chicken! Worth the wait and surcharge. The only thing I would change would be to have the salt and pepper in shakers instead of small plates as I feel that might be a bit unhygienic.

I am a regular here, we always get excellent friendly service, great coffee and specialty teas, the food is always very good, the $15.00 midweek lunches particularly – calamari, fritters and beef stir fry. Waiheke Wines and drinks are very reasonable. Oneroa’s best

Great food and great coffee. The Calamari salad was tasty and the chips crisp. The spicy chicken wings had a good kick -we were warned it was hot and it was great. Not to mention the good atmosphere and views. The long black was sweet as coffee should be and served with extra hot water ….will definatey recommend.

I enjoyed the calamari, chips & salad for lunch one day with a delicious glass of freshly squeezed juice. It was a very generous portion! The calamari was tender & not over cooked. The following day I ordered the big breakfast. It was awesome. I’d highly recommend Rickys and will be going back next time I’m on the island!

Well, I’m writing this as I watch my friends eat their brunch. I saw a nice burger and fries being eaten as I arrived at 11:50, only to be told after having ordered and sat down that the cook (I won’t deign to use the word chef) seems to thrown a hissy and refuses to start cooking *my* order until 12. What really annoys me is that he didn’t have the courage to do it himself, deferring that to the poor waitress. Won’t be back with this sort of service and attitude.
