Reviews for Denny’s

Been here a number of times over the last year, always received quick and friendly service – not always the most attentive but im not expecting the world. The food is designed to be simple, quick and cheap and thats what it delivers. If your after a dining experience and subtle flavours to blow your mind your not doing it right,

Despite some of the bad rap some Denny’s franchises got in the States over the years, we’ve always had our favorite Denny’s in Cali that we go to, both for the level of service and good food. So when I found out they have one in Welly, I thought I’d give it a go. I got deal vouchers for the all you can eat pizza & pasta, but I got sick and by the time I was ready to use them, it was a day past the expiry so I called Denny’s. I spoke to a Jessica and she wasn’t very helpful at all. She was abrupt and dismissive. She told me it’s not up to them, it’s up to Grabone. So I called Grabone, they told me that it’s not really their call, businesses have the discretion and most usually go out of their way (as a form of good custom) to honor those vouchers, esp mine since was only a day late. Grabone emailed me a letter I can take to Denny’s, but because of the response I got from Denny’s when I first called, I decided not to even bother.
I thought I’d still try Denny’s here anyway. I came in for breakfast and the whole place was empty. I ordered Lumberjack Slam. It came quick (of course, no one else was there LOL) but it was way too bland, the scrambled eggs was dry, so was the bacon, not crispy at all. The pancakes tasted like the ready mix kind and the hash brown was not at all the Denny’s version I’m used to. However, I did expect the sausages to be different, so no surprise there.

I am a Denny’s fan, but never again. Sorry kids.
The slowest most couldn’t care less service ever experienced anywhere.
When I complained the guy tried to blame the woman working there saying ‘she took your sundaes order right’ which was not true, he took the entire order up front.
When I went to pay he said ‘sorry mate thought she would look after you’
I had similar poor service when it had just opened, but put it down to being newly opened.
will never be back.

Food was really average if not worse. Ordered chilli fries and some of the fries weren’t even cooked and cold inside, and we had asked for them to come before our mains however this did not happen. For the mains we had a steak and a bacon and cheese burger. Both were very bland and messily presented as though no thought had gone into the meal. We called two servers over to get more drinks and then for dessert however neither took away our finished plates. Again when our desert arrived, our plates were still ignored. Our dessert was an apple crumble to share but were only given one spoon which made it a bit awkward. The dessert itself was okay, nothing special.
We were never given water which was also a con.
The only good things about this experience was te vanilla milkshakes, they were delicious! And also one of our servers, a girl, was very nice and upbeat.
Overall, probably will not go again and not recommend Denny’s as the price wasn’t cheap enough to make these pitiful meals a bit worthwhile.

I visited Denny’s on Willis for a friend’s birthday two weeks ago, and, on the whole, things didn’t go too badly. Our waitress was new, so there were a couple of minor slip-ups with the menu (my friend is allergic to dairy, eggs, and nuts, so saying the plate in front of him was covered in cheese sauce wasn’t really a good idea), and it would have been nice if our waiter had been able to grasp the concept of a Lo-Jack (Jack Daniel’s and low-calorie Monster) made with regular Monster; sort of like Jack and Coke as opposed to Jack and Diet Coke.
The service was prompt and friendly, though, and it was nice to see the waitress saying she’d check something she didn’t know, rather than making up an answer or refusing to find out. Willis Street is quite different to all the other Denny’s, but it’s a good different. Worth considering if you’re in that part of town.

Have been a few times, the food is average, but the service is usually very poor.
The “server” on my last visit was by far the worst I have ever had in any establishment.
Her communication consisted of very rude, surly muttering …at best. Obviously a reject from maccas.
Obviously did not want to be there – neither did I.
The blasé “don’t care” attitude of Front of house people isn’t good either.
I won’t go back.

Went here a little while back when they opened, because sis said it was worth checkin out.
P-retty Classy considering the rest of the Denny’s I have been to. a lot nicer design than the other one down here in Wellington in Porirua.
The Menu seems to have a few new things and some dissapearing dishes from the older menu according to my sis, I still havent seen if they can do a Denny’s NZ rendition of Canadian/Quebecois POutine, like the Auckland CBD branch managed very nicely.
I will head back and check sometime in the future.
For those who think poorly of Denny’s I would say that this new Denny’s on Willis St, Wellington really lifts the Denny’s Standard for all the other Denny’s, at least the ones I have been to in Auck and Welly.
Definitely Check this place out if you are a Denny’s Fan, it’s Denny’s + Modern Professional Standards.
at least that’s my opinion. I hope it stays that way, it’s a nice touch.
Denny’s, good for Breakfast-Lunch- and Denner.
