Heard many positive things regarding the Steaks and Ribs at Brazz so we decided to give it a try. I started off with the Alaskan Scallops ($19) for a starter. There was a total of 3 Scallops sitting on the plate all tasted bland and a little bit old (considering the location I wouldn’t expect them to be fresh but for $19 for 3 I’d expect a bit of taste). Next order two of us ended up getting the Rump Steak medium rare. Both the steaks were charred black on the outside and just wasn’t enjoyable at all.
One of our other party members tried their ribs though and upon trying one of those ribs myself I must admit did not taste bad at all.
So from that experience my recommendation is keep to the ribs and fries on the menu. Try not stray much further from that.

I moved to Queenstown from Oz in Novemeber and remember Brazz being the first restaurant I tried out.
The menu looked great and wanted to try out the ribs. To my surprise the Original ribs were mounted on my plate and tasted amazing. My partner had a Pizza and again they are not shy with their portions!!
The staff were extremely friendly and we felt very welcome.
Since living in Queenstown, Brazz is somewhere we defiantly go whether it be drinking their beer, eating their $10 breakfast or going in for dinner!
Definitely a must if you visit Queenstown!

I recently had the pleasure of enjoying a meal at Brazz with 2 16 year old girls. We all loved our meal – I had a steak that was melt in the mouth, my daughter is still raving about her chicken salad (so much that she wants the recipe!) and her friend loved her crab & salmon penne. The staff were brilliant despite the place being packed. We will definitely be back.

Hello, since this incident I have been contacted by the new manager and have been assured that things have changed. I believe that is the case and would not hesitate to try this restaurant in the future. I can really respect Chris making a change for the better and hiring people that truly represent the hospitality industry. It’s too bad that the real culprit gets away free. Even though I have not (yet) eaten here, because of the outreach of the new management I can change my rating to reflect a better experience.

Really nasty help here. Have met with nothing but kind, generous & helpful people in NZ until I had the misfortune to step into this restaurant to ask for directions (being new to the town) and if I had had a good experience I would have brought my party back for lunch. However, the blond woman in the office was so surly & rude (she actually purposely sent me on a wild goose chase when the place (not another restaurant) was right across the street. When I went back to ask again she escalated her rudeness & surliness. I’m sure the poor staff will back up her story because she is the type of person who will make any persons life a living hell if they go against her whims. She would not give her name, she would not admit to being the manager & she would not get the manager for me.

My wife and I ate at Brazz for the first time last week while on holiday in Queenstown. We shared the salt and pepper calamari, then the ribs combo, followed by sticky date pudding. It was sensational!! The ribs portion is massive (enough for 2!) I highly recommend this restaurant.

Similar to rjade, had decided to try the “legendary” ribs. Brazz is a bit awkwardly place down Athol St where your only escape if you find yourself going down the wrong way is to pop down the KFC drive-through.

It’s set out like many other bistro type bar/restaurants. Looking like an upmarket rustic pub with wine barrel tables and lots of wood.

Staff are friendly and attentive and the place was nice and clean.

The meals themselves weren’t overly impressive, but they weren’t horrible either. The salt and pepper calamari is good, but similar to the rest of the menu pricey for the portion.

I got the sense that the ribs were marinated for long periods so the meat falls of the bone. The 1/2 original rack turned out to be about 4 ribs, which is hardly a big meal and for $28 you could leave feeling a bit ripped off. In saying that, the meal is still a reasonable size with coleslaw and fries on the side.

The ribs are certainly better than you would find in something like Lonestar, although you would get a much larger serving in Lonestar for a similar price. But I wouldn’t necessarily call them legendary.

Would be tempted to go back just to check out the rest of the menu, but the ribs haven’t endeared me at all to try them again.

I have just returned from dining at Brazz, and I am disappointed. My partner and I had decided to try the ‘legendary’ ribs, and left feeling that our $80 would have been better spent elsewhere.

For the price and the hype about the ribs we expected much more from our meal. The meat was dry and overcooked, and I suspect they had been pre-cooked and then flash-grilled before serving. The ‘secret recipe’ sauce tasted like a standard, out-of-the-bottle BBQ sauce mixed with salt.

The staff were polite and the atmosphere pleasant, however the food was of a very poor standard.
